Inspired by the carving of traditional Canadian canoes. The outside has been lacquered whilst the inside has been left bare.

The form was inspired by the eroded channels in the Hvar coastline. The finish was an exploring into transitions from lacquer to wood with both hard and faded edges. The bright colour helps define the silhouette, drawing your focus towards the outline.

And yes, the hole goes all the way through

Rice Bowl

American Cherry

Chunky and guppy. The stock was joined with the support of some dominoes, when carving I accidentally punched through into them. Rather than patching the mistake I opted to leave them in as it looked interesting and industrial, almost like a loose tongue join from the future.
